Introduction
Chronalog is the trading name of me, Ron Smith. I have been involved in the travel and transport industry for over 30 years, in senior management positions in the logistics industry, trade associations, voluntary groups, and in the public sector working as a consultant to local authorities.
I am the travel writer for the Scottish Provincial Press
group of 12 newspapers, with travel articles aimed at Scottish readers and short break type holidays have featured in the paper's online editions for over three years. There have been over 850 travel and transport articles published in a broad range of publications, as well as a dozen books on transport subjects, and have given lectures at Universities and advised local government.
This broad spread of successful publications also includes diverse subjects ranging from local history, technical transport papers and publications, and translating tourist brochures. I have also given many talks and lectures to various groups and societies, and given radio broadcasts on a wide range of matters.
Being fluent in French has resulted in many articles appearing in French magazines, and in February 2012 I was awarded the "Best on-line Scottish French travel article of the year" prize by the French National Tourist authority, Atout France.
Latest book published
Working with the media and helping to publicise tourist attractions, is all part of this successful range of travel and transport activities. There are more books in the pipeline, and more planned. In February 2012 a book, entitled "Rigi, Queen of the Mountains" was published for the Rigibahnen, Switzerland, as their official souvenir book, which is now on sale at all their stations and shops and on-line.
Capability
The creative abilities of Chronalog have resulted in a range of successful publications, from a continuing flow of newspaper and magazine articles on travel and tourism, through to transport, technical and local history books, and research papers.
